KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Athletic Director Dave Hart is still on the search for a new basketball coach after reportedly striking out with Michael White.

Discussions between UT and White heated up over the weekend, but reportedly ended Monday with White opting to stay in a more secure long term situation at Louisiana Tech.

The 37-year old White just signed a 6-year extension with Louisiana Tech earlier in April that included a $100,000 raise.

The Vols search is now expected to focus on Southern Miss head coach Donnie Tyndall.

The former MTSU assistant has had successful runs as head coach at Morehead State and now Southern Miss.

He’s led the Golden Eagles to 56 wins the last two years and he also could be the big personality the Volunteer fans evidently crave in the wake of Bruce Pearl’s departure four years ago.

Cuonzo Martin left Tennessee after three seasons last Tuesday for the same job at Cal.
