MILFORD, CT - A U.S. Senator was almost hit by a train during a speech about commuter rail safety in Connecticut.

The incident happened Friday at a press conference held by Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Milford Mayor Ben Blake.

According to the NY Daily News, they were standing near the yellow warning strip on a narrow platform during the speech.

Blumenthal had just made the statement, “Safety as you know it is paramount," when an Amtrak train flew by, narrowly missing the senator and mayor.

The conference was paused for a moment, but resumed as planned.
