NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man in a motorized wheelchair was killed in Madison Saturday night.

Authorities told News 2 Robert Conner, 57, was struck by a van while crossing Gallatin Pike South and Berkley Drive at 9:55 p.m.

The driver, 71-year-old Arthur Williams, and a witness said the light was green for northbound traffic.

Conner died at the scene and Williams was not injured.

Gallatin Pike was shut down from Walton Lane to Due West Avenue while police investigated.

There was no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

Authorities said the preliminary cause of the crash was Conner’s failure to obey a traffic device.
