PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - A mother in Philadelphia gave birth to a baby weighing 13 pounds, eight ounces.

Waldo James Mysterious Dwyer was born via C-section Monday.

His mother, Danielle Dwyer, was two weeks past her due date. Doctors predicted her baby would weigh about nine pounds.

“We knew he was big but not that big,” she told WPVI. “I’m thankful he was healthy and well.”

The parents decided to give their son a unique name because of events taking place at time of his birth.

“He was almost 14 pounds, under a blood red lunar eclipse. I don’t know what any of that means but it seems like the first few sentences of a tall tale,” explained Brian Dwyer, Waldo’s father.

The average birth weight for boys is less than 8 pounds, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
