NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Parents in south Nashville are concerned about crime in the area, following a Friday afternoon shooting.

Around 3 p.m., a man sustained gunshot wounds to his leg at University Court apartment homes located on Charles E. Davis Boulevard.

Residents told News 2 they heard shots fired before seeing the victim fall to the ground.

The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

His condition was not immediately known.

Renee Leach, who has lived in the apartments for seven years, said her children have seen three or four shootings near their home.

"I think it's crazy because my kids can't get out here and play like any other kids should be able to because they are constantly running from gunshots."

Police are searching for the person behind Friday's shooting.
