SAN DIEGO, Calif. -

An infant giraffe that has been sick for several weeks has been reunited with his family at the San Diego Zoo.

Baby Leroy was born in January. Two weeks later, he was diagnosed with a severe bacterial infection that has a very low survival rate.

After extensive treatment, Leroy has made a full recovery, ABC News reported.

On Monday, zoo officials said he was reunited with his mother who seemed pleased to be back with her son.
