NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs and Lee Ann Womack helped open the expansion of the Country Music Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

The 210,000 square foot expansion more than doubles its previous size and the museum and hall can finally display over two million artifacts of country music history.

The expansion also completes the lower Broadway tri-fecta of the Music City Center, Omni Hotel and Hall of Fame.

"Being able to tie all of these entities together and have a huge university, basically, of music here with all of the centers tied together, it's a big thing for Nashville," said country legend Ricky Skaggs.

Governor Bill Haslam and Nashville Mayor Karl Dean also spoke.

Mayor Dean talked of the completion of the tourism campus and said, "It's hard to imagine Nashville's appeal as a tourist destination without this beautiful museum."

The expansion gives room to display approximately a half-million photographs, nearly 200,000 sound recordings and more than 30,000 moving images.

A full-size replica of Taylor Swift's tour bus is on the second floor of the new exhibit space. Inside the bus is a recording studio where visitors can track their own song and have it produced in a digital format.

The museum first opened 47 years ago on music row and was moved to its current location on Demonbreun and 5th in 2001.
