NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A 21-year-old was arrested Monday night after he allegedly jumped a woman who returned home while he was burglarizing her apartment.

Dominique Van-Noy faces several charges following the incident around 8:40 p.m. at the Shadowbluff Apartments in south Nashville near Murfreesboro Pike and Interstate 24.

Police reported the victim returned home, unlocked her door and was grabbed from behind.

Van-Noy is accused of throwing her to the ground with his arm around her neck. The victim screamed before losing consciousness.

A neighbor heard the scream and ran to the apartment door, banging on it while calling 911. Police said Van-Noy then escaped the third-story apartment by climbing down the balconies that face I-24.

Once the victim regained consciousness, the neighbor pulled her outside and shut her door to keep her safe while waiting for authorities.

According to the affidavit, Van-Noy was seen walking down the interstate, but fled once he spotted police.

He was found again a short time later at the intersection of Plus Park and Pavilion Boulevards, just off Murfreesboro Pike.

Officers said he refused to take his hands out of his pocket and put up a struggle before they could take him into custody.

Van-Noy allegedly admitted to the burglary, telling police he knew the victim was not home and was in the middle of gathering her belongings when she arrived home, leading him to hide and attack her once she entered the residence.

Police said he initially entered the by climbing the balconies of apartments below and kicking in the victim's balcony door.

Van-Noy is charged with especially aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, vandalism, resisting arrest and using the interstate without a motor vehicle.

His bond was set at $81,000.
