Although we are not looking for a major severe weather outbreak Monday afternoon/evening, a few storms could have damaging winds and hail.

One line of showers & t'showers is expected to pass by during rush hour commute Monday morning.  Graphic #1

Then, we may get a break with some sunshine before the line of storms arrives with a cold front Monday afternoon/early evening.

IF we get that break in between with the sunshine, it could prime the second line of storms by heating things up.  Graphic #2  That could cause a few of those storms to be severe.

The bigger news is the cold temps on the way.

Monday night, skies will stay cloudy and cold with rain showers, so temps bottom out in the upper 30s (BTW, we won't be able to see the eclipse).

There might even be some snow showers on the back edge of the rain on the Cumberland Plateau Tuesday morning.

The second night, Tuesday night, skies will be clear.  That's when temps will drop to the upper 20s to low 30s with frost likely, as well.

If you have planted an early season garden, you should cover the plants with a sheet Tuesday evening.
