NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

The Nashville Rescue Mission, which is well-known for helping others, is getting a makeover, thanks to local businesses.

"We have a lot of private donors, a lot of in-kind gifts from construction companies and such that came forth and said, 'Hey, we want to provide our gifts and the things that we do to make a difference at the Nashville Rescue Mission,'" President and CEO Glenn Cranfield told News 2.

From the parking lot to the interior of the building, renovations began on the rescue a year ago.

"We've had the dining hall remodeled, the chapel remodeled, our dormitory is remodeled," said Cranfield.

The renovations included new floors, lights, projectors and speakers. Cranfield said with the Music City Center and the development of the Sobro area, the mission wants to keep up with their surrounding environment.

"Everyone's kind of looking at their property and their area and thinking, 'Hey, we need to make sure we fit in with the community.' And that's the responsibility we have as community members," Cranfield explained.

He said it is an important step for the faith-based facility to follow through with their mission.

"We are asking guys to come here and we are offering them an opportunity to have their life changed, an opportunity to see something made out of their life. So, it's really neat when they come into an environment that really looks well."

After the parking lot is complete, they plan to work on the front of the building on Lafayette.

The Nashville Rescue Mission will host an open house once the project is finished.
