Morristown, TN (WJHL) -

A Hamblen County man was arrested Thursday following an indictment by a federal grand jury on Tuesday.

According to a Morristown Police Department news release, Fred Frank Whitacre, Jr., 40, of Elgin Drive in Morristown, was charged with one count of distribution of child pornography, one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Whitacre was arrested by detectives after being contacted by the Johnson City FBI office, which had reportedly received information from a New York FBI office that he had transmitted child pornography by email to the New York area.

Multiple computers and other digital media were seized from Whitacre’s home and an extensive forensic exam showed 7,460 images and 308 videos depicting child pornography.

According to the release, Whitacre faces a sentencing of 5-20 years for each felony charge and remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals without bond.

“I am proud of the work our investigator has done and of the partnerships we have developed which allow us to reach beyond our jurisdiction to remove child predators from our communities,” MPD Chief Roger Overholt said.”
