NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A seven-year-old boy faces disciplinary actions after he brought an unloaded gun to school Thursday.

Officials said the boy's brother found the .25 caliber in the elementary school student's backpack at an after-school program and notified an adult who locked up the gun and called police.

The child's parents told authorities the gun was found in their home during a remodel job. They added they plan to remove all firearms from their residence.

All parents who have children that attend the elementary school were notified of the incident.

The school's principal also planned to go to classrooms Friday to talk with students.

No criminal charges were filed.
