COOPERTOWN, Tenn. -

A father and his four-year-old son survived a serious rollover crash overnight Tuesday in Coopertown.

Smokey Barn News reports their vehicle left the roadway sometime after Midnight and rolled over multiple times at the intersection of Flewellyn and New Chapel roads.

The car ultimately landed on its side.

When emergency officials arrived, the young boy was standing in a field near the wreck.  The boy indicated that he crawled out of the vehicle on his own.

The father was also outside of the vehicle, but it was not immediately clear if he crawled out or was ejected during the crash.

A witness told Smokey Barn the father was in a lot of pain and had glass embedded in his back.  He was transported to Northcrest Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.

The 4-year-old, however, had no injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
