MEMPHIS, Tenn. -

Union University filed a suit against the federal government over the Affordable Care Act in Memphis on Friday.

According to Local Memphis, Union said the law violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the First and Fifth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution and the Administrative Procedures Act.

The Tennessee university, which has campuses in Jackson and Germantown, disagrees with parts of the Affordable Care Act that cover contraception and abortion-causing drugs.

"Causing the death of the embryo conflicts with Union University's beliefs based on Scripture. Therefore, Union University has religious-based objection to drugs and devices that kill the embryo and to education and counseling related to the use of these abortion-causing drugs and devices," Union explained in a statement.

They filed the lawsuit after losing an exemption to exclude those specific services to their employees.
