An east Tennessee substitute teacher is behind bars after she allegedly stapled three students at an elementary school Tuesday. Alisha Cook faces three counts of simple assault for the incident that occurred at Central Elementary School in Carter County, Tennessee, about 300 miles away from Nashville. Mother Brandy Gobble told WJHL-TV her daughter was one of the students who was stapled by Cook. "The principal called to tell me that my daughter wasn't in trouble, but she had been stapled by a teacher," Gobble said. According to Gobble, the school's nurse removed the staples from each of the three students' arms. Cook is jailed on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 13.*WJHL-TV contributed to this report.
