DYERSBURG, Tenn. -

Human remains found Tuesday are believed to be those of a missing Dyersburg man who disappeared in June 2012.

The State Gazette reports law enforcement agencies retrieved the remains Tuesday and said they have been "tentatively" identified as Curtis Tyler, 27.

"We have tentatively identified the remains, however, we are reluctant to positively identify them until we get a report from the medical examiner's office," said Police Chief Art Heun. "We found items that lead us to believe it is [Tyler]."

Tyler was last seen on June 30, 2012 at a trailer park off of Christie Street in Dyersburg.  He was reported missing three days later by his family.

Investigators spent hours surveying the area to recover items, map the property and collect all the physical evidence they could find, according to the State Gazette.

DNA samples are expected to be sent to a medical examiner for positive identification and cause of death.

Chief Heun is encouraging anyone with any information about the case to contact the Dyersburg Police Department at 731-285-1212 or Crime Stoppers of Dyer County at 731-285-TIPS.
