2 teens in custody in connection to church burglaries

Posted:
MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. -

Two teens are in custody in connection with a pair of Maury County church burglaries.

In both crimes, which occurred at Glenn's Chapel Methodist and Antioch Church of Christ, authorities said the suspects kicked in a back door, taking few possessions of any real value.

Investigators were responding to one of the church break-ins when an alert deputy pulled over the teens, Steven Ralston and Austin Pratt.

After a brief interrogation, the both were charged in connection to the burglaries.

What does it say when you have to lock the church door? Our society today is much different than it was 50 years ago," Sheriff Enoch George said.

Nashville's News 2 spoke with 19-year-old Ralston Tuesday who denied any involvement in the church burglaries.

"They can say what they want," he said. "They can't prove anything."

Authorities said Ralston and Pratt could be suspects in a third church break-in in Marshall County.
