Two Middle Tennessee natives went head-to-head on the mound for Major League Baseball's Opening Day.
Murfreesboro native and former Vanderbilt star David Price started Monday's game for the Tampa Bay Rays. Their opponent, the Toronto Blue Jays, sent Nashville native and former Volunteer R.A Dickey to the mound.
Price went 7 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on six hits. He struck out six and walked one in the Rays 9-2 win over the Blue Jays.
Dickey took the loss after giving up six runs in five innings.
Price and Dickey were both Cy Young award winners in 2012.
Price won the AL Cy Young after a 20-win season with the Rays. Dickey also posted a 20-win season and took home the NL Cy Young as a member of the New York Mets.
