NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A man was taken in custody on multiple charges after police received an anonymous call on a robbery about to take place.

Officials told News 2 officers patrolled the area around 2:30 a.m. and spotted a man on Brookway Drive that matched the description.

Identified as Sylvainus Cole III, 26, the suspect reportedly ran from police, throwing items into a nearby wooded area, before seeking refuge in his friend's apartment.

He was found in an upstairs bedroom and taken into custody.

A search of the apartment revealed several unfired rounds of bullets, a magazine inside a baby's crib, and a holster.

Authorities also found a rifle and handgun with an extra magazine along the wood line outside.  A box for the handgun and another revolver were found in a separate apartment where Cole stated he stays sometimes.

Cole was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest and being a felon with a handgun.

Since no robbery occurred, he will not be charged with attempt.  Police told News 2 they may never know the intended target if one existed.

Records show Cole has been arrested 13 times over the past three years including charges of robbery, drug and domestic violence.

During the incident, officers also noticed two malnourished pit bulls tied up on a short chain behind the apartment building.

Metro Animal Control was called to the scene and rescued the dogs, which no one has claimed.  They expect to investigate the matter further.
