NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police arrested a man Tuesday night for stabbing another over a $20 debt.

The stabbing happened last Monday, March 17, in Buena Vista Heights.

According to an affidavit, the victim approached a Metro police officer and told him he had been stabbed in the 2000 block of 26th Avenue North.

The victim allegedly owed the suspect, 23-year-old James Michael Booth, $20 from early this year. Booth and two other men approached him and demanded he be paid the money owed.

Unable to pay, Booth then attacked the victim.

"I'm gonna kill you," he said repeatedly, holding a knife to the victim's throat, the affidavit stated.

Booth proceeded to stab him in the hand and the back.

He was positively identified in a photo lineup by the victim.

Booth was charged with attempted criminal homicide and booked into the Metro jail.  His bond was set at $76,000.
