NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An employee at Applebee's is recovering after she was run over by a customer who didn't pay her bill.

Felishia Bridges, 19, was arrested early Saturday morning after Metro police say she left the Applebee's on Thompson Lane near Interstate 65 without paying their $28 bill with an acquaintance, Daniel Humphrey.

Police say she deliberately ran over the employee who had followed her outside to try to stop her.

Bridges and Humphrey were taken into custody after her vehicle was located at nearby 100 Oaks.

Berry Hill Police Chief Robert Bennett spoke with the 19-year-old employee who is currently out of state with family recovering from her injuries.  He said fortunately the victim is expected to make a full recovery.

"She was brave, but I don't recommend people trying to stop people like that," said Chief Bennett.

Area restaurant managers like Mike Wilkey of Calypso Café on Thompson Lane said the Applebee's employee probably had a good reason to chase after the alleged swindler.

"Typically if somebody walks out from a restaurant on their check, the server is held responsible for that ticket," said Wilkey.

A spokesperson for Applebee's released a statement which read in part, "An unfortunate incident occurred at our Thompson Lane Applebee's late Friday night, March 21, 2014, which resulted in police being called to the scene.  There is an ongoing investigation into the matter, thus we cannot comment on details of the incident."

The statement continued, "As the investigation continues, we ask at this time that you respect the privacy of all involved."

Bridges was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and theft of services.  She was booked into the Metro jail on $30,000 bond.

At the time of his arrest, police said Bridges had an order of protection against Humphrey. He is charged with violating the order.
