FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

The all-clear has been given in Williamson County after a suspicious package was found Monday morning at the district attorney's office on Main Street in Franklin.

A worker sorting through the mail discovered the package and called police around 8:40 a.m.

She said she became suspicious due to the package's characteristics and markings.  A responding officer agreed and called the Tennessee Highway Patrol's bomb squad to the scene.

The alley and parking area between 4th and 5th avenues were cordoned off until the bomb squad, using special equipment, determined that the package was safe.

Franklin police said the package, addressed to District Attorney General Kim Helper, contained evidence in a potential criminal matter and is not believed to have been intended to cause any alarm.

The area was reopened to the public just before 10:30 a.m.
