New center to provide career guidance, suits for women

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A new facility aimed toward helping disadvantaged women begin their careers is opening up in east Nashville.

Dress for Success, a program of the YWCA of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, will be a career center and suiting program for women.

"The purpose of our program is to serve disadvantaged women by empowering them with proper clothing attire to go on a job interview, and then to continue to give them resources to continue to strengthen them in their career," Natalie Hansen told News 2.

The year-long program involves women in The Professional Women's Group, a group that meets once a month to visit various places in the community.

It provides them an opportunity to socialize and network with other women.

Volunteers said getting the facility ready for its opening is hard work, but very worth it.

"It's just a really fun way for us to be able to get out have some fun and be able to give back to the community," said Crystal Ghassemi.

Dress for Success will launch this summer and provide services to women in 11 different Middle Tennessee counties.

They will begin accepting clothing donations at the end of April.
