COLUMBIA, Tenn. -

Charges against a woman implicated in a roadside assault last November in Maury County have been dropped after the victims told authorities they "made a mistake."

Amanda White was charged in connection to the attack on a family grieving the loss of a loved one who had stopped their car to pray.

In an email to News 2 White wrote there was "no evidence" against her and "the victims stated to me and the district attorney they never said I was involved in this fight."

She added, the victims said "they were sorry" and they "had made a mistake."

White, who has a criminal history but has cleaned up her act, added, "I am not the bad kid I used to be and today proved that."

Police are still looking for Jacob Tankersley, the assailant who attacked the family alongside Highway 7 in Columbia on November 21.

He faces two counts of simple assault.

Anyone with information on Tankersley's whereabouts is urged to call Maury County authorities at 931-380-5733.
