South Nashville pharmacy burglarized by 5 masked men

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Five men burglarized a south Nashville pharmacy early Monday morning and are still on the run from police.

Investigators said the men, all wearing masks, entered the DCA Pharmacy on Trousdale Lane near Harding Place through a shattered window at 3 a.m.

One suspect opened the cash register while the other four ran to the rear of the pharmacy and took medication.

The store is conducting an inventory to determine the type and amount taken.

Hoy Allen, the president and CEO of the pharmacy, which makes compounded medication such as hormone replacement pills, said the heist took less than 60 seconds.

"We're licensed in 32 states so we send out a lot of medicine to people in other states so it's going to slow down our ability to fill prescriptions," Allen told News 2.

Authorities used a K9 to track the suspects but the dog stopped at an empty pill bottle in a parking lot.

Allen suspects the crooks were looking for narcotics, but unknowingly made off with something else.

"It's just funny what they actually got away with is hormone, so hopefully they'll sleep better," Allen said.

Police believe the burglars had a car waiting for them.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects is urged to contact Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
