One teen was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in Cheatham County on Saturday.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Interstate 40 near mile marker 191 shortly before 2 p.m.
Brianna Furlow, 18, was behind the wheel when her car swerved to the left and went off the roadway.
The vehicle then struck the face of a cliff before going back on the road and stopping in the left lane.
Furlow suffered injuries in the crash. Her passenger, 18-year-old Garry Russell III, was killed.
Officials said Russell was not buckled up at the time of the accident. They believe he would have survived had he worn his seat belt.
No charges have been filed.
The westbound lanes of I-40 reopened around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
