Clarksville parents sentenced for abusing 5-week-old son

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

A Clarksville mother and father were sentenced Thursday for causing serious brain damage to their son when he was an infant.

According to the Leaf Chronicle, Otis Loyola Sr., 25, will spend 20 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections for aggravated child abuse.

His wife, 27-year-old Penselynn, was sentenced to 15 years for aggravated child neglect.

Their son, Otis Loyola, Jr., was 5 weeks old when he suffered rib and leg fractures, malnutrition and was beaten or shaken.

The child, who is now two, has permanent brain damage and is unable to walk, talk or eat without a feeding tube.

He is now being raised in a foster home with his two sisters.
