Target apologizes for going too far with Photoshop

Target apologizes after going too far with Photoshop in two junior bathing suit ads on their Web site.

The ads picture models with a gaping space between their legs, a thigh gap, but it is more than just a thigh gap.

The gap extends into her pelvis and the bathing suit itself, ABC News reported, creating what some people are calling an almost laughable Photoshop fail.

There were also pieces of the models' thigh and ribcage missing.

"If it weren't part of an ongoing attempt to mold unrealistic bodies in fashion marketing, it would almost be funny," The Ethical Adman wrote on his blog.

Although laughable, the Photoshop flop is fueling a body image debate and reigniting the thigh gap controversy.

Thigh gaps have recently become a trend among young girls and young women. It is a trend that can be damaging and lead to self-destructive behavior.

"It was an unfortunate error on our part and we apologize," Target spokesman Evan Miller told "We removed the image from the site and we're working to get a new image up there."
