2 Ky. men killed after car slams into semi

PORTLAND, Tenn. -

Two men from Kentucky were killed and a third injured after their car slammed into the back of a tractor trailer early Thursday morning in Robertson County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the truck was stopped at a stop sign on Lake Springs Road in Portland preparing to turn onto Highway 31 when the crash happened just before 2 a.m.

The driver of the car, Conner Edwards, 21, of Auburn, Kentucky, was killed and so was his passenger, Cody Yell, 22, of Adairville, Kentucky.

A third person in the car, Alexander Reed, 22, of Auburn, Kentucky, was injured.
 
The THP said all three men were drinking prior to the crash.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

It is estimated that Edwards' car was traveling at approximately 80 mph at the time of the collision.
