A bill to be discussed in a Senate sub-committee on Wednesday would begin a study into a monorail system for Middle Tennessee.
Introduced by Senator Bill Ketron of Murfreesboro, the bill proposes a discussion regarding the creation of a monorail public transportation system along the Nashville Southeast Corridor.
The corridor is described as being on and along Interstate-24, connecting downtown Murfreesboro to downtown Nashville. It is approximately 30 miles long.
The bill directs the Department of Transportation to study the construction, operation and financing of the monorail system.
Their findings would have to be reported by February 1, 2015.
