MEMPHIS, Tenn. -

A man trying to sell his car on Craigslist was killed by two prospective buyers who then stole the car late Sunday night in Memphis.

WREG-TV reports Brandon Vance, 21, and Martiness Henderson, 17, are each charged with first degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery in the death of 37-year-old Larry Wilkins.

Police say Wilkins met the suspects after they expressed interest in buying his car, a 2006 Ford Mustang, which had been listed for sale on Craigslist.

The men met Wilkins just before Midnight.

They are accused of shooting him to death then stealing the Mustang, which was found around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Authorities stated it wasn't immediately clear why the meeting was set for so late in the night.

Police advise it's always best to meet in a public, well-lit area to do a sale of any kind.

Further details were not immediately released.
