A California family that chose homelessness over losing their dog is back in an apartment after a pit bull advocacy group stepped in to help.

Carol Devia, along with her husband and two adult sons, were homeless after their landlords at their former home became wary of letting their pit bull stay with them.

Rather than giving up the family pet, named Rocco, they decided to move out.

The family lived out of their car and delivered newspapers to make money until a different landlord saw the story and decided to help.

According to ABC News, Devia family now has a place to stay and a home for their two dogs, the pit and a lab mix, to run around freely.

The family said they'd be sleeping on the floor for now and they're trying to find affordable beds.

Their car also broke down, so they're in the market for a new vehicle.

Bad Rap, the advocacy group that helped the family, is still accepting donations through the email

"Pit bull owners are good," Devia told ABC. "The community is there. And it's an actual community because they all help each other."

She also thanked the community for coming together to help them out.
