George Hickey, the district fire chief, said the fire is being investigated as arson.

"We're feeling, at this point, that someone went into the basement area and used an accelerant from one end of the house to the other," said Chief Hickey.

He added it was a "bear to put out" since there were multiple ignition points.

The amount of accelerant made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the flames.

Chief Hickey also stated live power lines were popping, making the fire more hazardous.  NES crews were called to the scene to cut the power.

The fire rekindled several hours later, but crews were quick to extinguish it again.
