CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools will be closed again on Friday due to snow and ice earlier in the week.

Administrators made the announcement late Thursday afternoon.

The district was hit hard by Monday's snow and ice and while temperatures reached above freezing for the first time Thursday, many area roads are still treacherous.

"The parking lots are a mess. There's ice everywhere. It's just horrible," school transportation employee Janice Williams told News 2 Thursday, adding, "We've got five trucks out grading and five out salting, trying to clear up some of this so they can have school."

Parents who spoke with News 2 were more than ready for their kids to be back in class.

Becky Anderson had all three children at home this week. "I am ready for school to start. We're getting stir crazy," she said.

"I'm definitely ready to get him back to learning and back to being back in school, getting our routine back is going to be nice," mom Jenny Roberts told News 2.  Her eight-year-old son attends Byrns Darden Elementary School.

The school district is out of snow days for the remainder of the year.

On Thursday night, it was determined that the school system will make up one school day by adding 30 minutes to the school day for 13 days from April 7 through April 24.

The other four days they must make up are still in a state of flux, officials told News 2.

The school said spring break, March 24 through March 28, and Saturdays are not in jeopardy.
