NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Emergency crews pulled a body from the Cumberland River in west Nashville Wednesday evening.

Sgt. Mark Wells told News 2 that a fisherman spotted the body around 5:30 p.m.  It was floating close to shore in the river near the intersection of Charlotte Pike and Cabot Drive off Interstate 40.

Authorities said the body is male and it appeared to have been in the water for several days.

The person's identity was not immediately known.

The medical examiner has taken possession of the body.

No foul play is suspected although the investigation is ongoing.
