The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office has confiscated $160,000 in counterfeit merchandise from a Murfreesboro store.

The fake purses, The North Face jackets, Beats by Dre headphones and UGG boots were spotted by a private investigator at Crazy C's Liquidation on West College Street.

He turned his findings over to sheriff's office detectives.

"There were over 500 jackets in the store," Detective Patty Hillis told News 2.

"We went back to the building to try and purchase several hundred of The North Face jackets, and later in the evening, while we were waiting for our merchandise, we went ahead and sent in a search warrant."

Hillis told News 2 the owner of Crazy C's cooperated with deputies and admitted that the items were fakes.

The merchandise was being sold for less than half the price of the real items.

Beats by Dre headphones, for example, were being sold for $50. The real headphones retail for several hundred dollars.

"The consumer is going in and thinking, 'Hey, this is real and I'm getting a good deal.  I'm going to get the jacket, the gloves, the hat, the whole nine yards,'" Hillis said.  "In reality, the quality of the merchandise is not even close to the real product."

A Rutherford County grand jury will consider charges in the case Friday.

The confiscated merchandise will be destroyed.
