Ice on I-24 causes driver to lose control, flip upside down

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A vehicle flew off Interstate 24 Wednesday morning after the driver struck a patch of ice.

The crash took place in Joelton at mile marker 36 around 6 a.m.

Officials told News 2 the driver attempted to pass another motorist when their vehicle hit ice on the shoulder.

The driver then lost control and the car continued travelling behind the guardrail, causing it to flip upside down.

The driver was not injured.

One lane of I-24 east was closed for under an hour as crews cleared the scene.
