NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A soldier who died while serving his country received a special honor during Tuesday night's Predators game at Bridgestone Arena.

Army Master Sgt. James Ponders was killed nine years ago in a mission that was depicted in the movie "The Lone Survivor."

While playing with the U.S.A. Men's Hockey Team, Pittsburgh Penguins Defense man Paul Martin and the other team players wore the names of fallen service members stitched into their uniform.

Martin wore Ponder's name.

He had the chance to meet the soldier's family before the game.

"You try not to take for granted and to have someone lost in battle and to meet their family and the sacrifice they made is special for us to appreciate that," said Martin.

Ponder's wife Leslie presented Martin with a gold coin as a memento from her late husband.
