As far as the daytime hours of Sunday are concerned, we are looking at a rain situation, and only wet roads with temperatures falling from northwest to southeast.  Temperatures dropped about 25 degrees in Nashville during the late morning.

Timing: However, starting in the northwestern section of Middle TN from around 3pm on, the temperature should drop below freezing in places like Clarksville, Dover, Erin, Paris, and Waverly.  This will change the rain to freezing rain that not only could cause slick roads this evening, but also possible power outages in our northwestern counties.

In the Nashville Metro area, temps should drop to at or below freezing by around 9pm, changing the rain to freezing rain, and causing slick roadways. See graphic #2.

Ice accumulations overnight could possibly be as high as 1/2" to 1" in the northwestern sections of Middle TN, with 1/4" possible just northwest of Nashville, and 1/10" to 1/4" around the Nashville area.  Our south and southeastern counties will see mostly rain, with some sleet and snow on the tail end early Monday morning.  See graphic # 3.

Between midnight and sunrise, the precipitation will change over to sleet and then snow, with a dusting to 1" from north Davidson County southward, with 1-2" in the counties bordering Kentucky.  See graphic #4.

The snow should taper off by around 10-11am.

With temperatures falling to the upper teens to low 20s by daybreak, a treacherous Monday morning rush hour commute is anticipated.

Highs on Monday should get above freezing.
