Couple accused of reselling Redbox DVDs, video games

A man and woman have been arrested for reselling movies and video games obtained through area Redbox locations.

Police said Chiteka Thompson and Jonah Phillips allegedly collaborated in a scheme to obtain DVDs and game discs from November 2012 to July 2013.

After Redbox reported the thefts, authorities used surveillance video from local retailers and transaction records from pawnshops to identify the pair as suspects.

Thompson and Phillips are each charged with one count of felony theft.

Thompson, 31, is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. Phillips is being held in Williamson County on an unrelated matter and will be booked in Nashville on the indictment in the future.

The monetary loss to Redbox totaled nearly $38,000.
