BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - A grand jury in south-central Kentucky has indicted a man on a murder charge in the 1998 slaying of his estranged wife.
Prosecutor Chris Cohron told The Daily News (http://bit.ly/1lp5aSz) that the indictment was handed down Wednesday against Leland Neal in the slaying of Carol Neal.
Cohron said the case was presented to the panel just days after Neal was apprehended in Mexico. Prosecutors had taken out an arrest warrant last year, but were unable to locate Neal.
Cohron said officials are in the process of transporting Neal, who waived extradition, back to Kentucky.
Carol Neal was reported missing in 1998 as she and her husband were going through divorce proceedings. Hikers discovered part of her skull in 2003 in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
