A man was found alive inside a body bag at a funeral home in Mississippi on Thursday.

WAPT reports the man, Walter Williams, was pronounced dead around 9 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Lexington, about two and a half hours south of Memphis.

"I stood there and watched them put him in a body bag and zipped it up," Williams' nephew, Eddie Hester, said.

The coroner was preparing to embalm Williams a few hours later when he started to move.

Byron Porter of the Porter and Sons Funeral Home said it was the first time he'd seen anything like it.

Porter explained Williams was still zipped inside the body bag, kicking to get out.

He was rushed to nearby hospital where family said they are happy he's alive.

"I don't know how long he's going to be here, but I know he's back right now. That's all that matters," Hester said.

The coroner believes his pacemaker could have stopped working before starting up again.

Family reported Williams is a fighter, a long-time farmer and used to work for the local school board.
