Police say man approached 2 girls, offered ride to school

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -

Franklin police are investigating the report of a man who allegedly approached two young girls and offered them a ride Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred in the Fieldstone Farms subdivision as the two nine-year-old girls were riding their bikes to school.

The victims reported they were approached by a man in a green or gold cube-shaped vehicle with dark black bumpers and side mirrors at the intersection of Lexington Parkway and Essex Park Circle.

The children said the man asked if they were on their way to school and if they knew their way before offering them a ride.

The girls went in the opposite direction when the unidentified man pulled away.

He is described as a white male between 40 and 50 years old. He is bald and has a long grey goatee and a mole on his face.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey t-shirt and smoking a cigarette.

Though the man's intentions are currently unclear, police have ordered extra patrols in and around Franklin schools during peak times children are arriving and departing.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call police at 615-794-2513.
