Turkey continues daily trot near Nashville businesses

While you usually hear of a chicken crossing the street, a busy intersection in south Nashville belongs to a turkey.

"Tom" the turkey makes daily runs around Harding Place and Harding Industrial Pike. He has been trotting around the area for more than six months, surviving Thanksgiving and Christmas.

"He's become part of the Atlantic Bedding team for sure. He brings in customers daily, that just see him on the side of the road and stop by to take pictures and then come into tell us there is a turkey out there," Billy Thornhill with Atlantic Bedding and Furniture said.

Tom is known to chase after things he doesn't like including bicycles, motorcycles, police vehicles and cabs. No doubt he's into some foul play, there's video of Tom chasing a biker right beside the wheel.

A neighboring business feeds Tom bird seed and includes him in their newsletters.

"He definitely has a lot of fans. Our customers ask about him all the time, because we put him in the newsletter and we see people stop and taking pictures of him all the time," Mark Ferguson with Southstar Molding explained.

Tom fans say animal control has tried to capture him, but he's too fast.

"We've had police cars behind him, you know gobbling through the loud speaker trying to get him out of the road," said Thornhill.

The businesses hopes Tom keeps hanging around.
