2 injured after motorcycle repair shop goes up in flames

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. -

Two people were injured after a motorcycle repair shop in Springfield went up in flames Tuesday, leaving the business completely destroyed.

Smokey Barn News reports Fast Cycle, located right next to a Springfield fire department on Bradley Drive, caught fire around 2 p.m.

Two people were injured, one with second degree burns and one with smoke inhalation.  Both victims were transported to the Northcrest Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Crews were on the scene fast enough to keep the fire from damaging neighboring businesses, but the repair shop is considered a total loss.

A preliminary investigation on the scene found the fire began in the back of the business.

The heat was so high it burned the grass outside of the building when the metal walls became hot.

The neighboring bar, Firehouse Sports Bar, suffered slight to moderate smoke damage.  Firefighters had to open up part of the ceiling and a wall to make sure the fire hadn't crept inside.

Officials told Smokey Barn that strip mall-type businesses are more susceptible to fires since it can travel and spread very quickly.
