LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Louisville Water Co. will soon be reopening its historic pumping station after a renovation.
The original Pumping Station No. 1 dates back to the mid-19th century. The restoration began last year and was completed in January and includes a new WaterWorks Museum in the building's west wing.
The museum will feature photographs dating back to 1860, handwritten minutes, original architectural drawings and film of the steam engines working.
The opening is scheduled for Friday at the Louisville Water Tower Park on the Ohio River.
