THOMPSON'S STATION, Tenn. -

A man was killed and an elderly woman injured in a head-on collision Monday in Williamson County.

Police reported Joe Martin, 62, was traveling south on Highway 31 between State Route 840 and Critz Lane in Thompson's Station around 4 p.m. when the crash occurred.

A Chevrolet Impala driven by 88-year-old Alice Fisher crossed the center line in northbound lanes, striking Martin head-on.

Martin's Ford Ranger spun and came to rest in the ditch.  He was killed upon impact.

Fisher was transported via LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  She was last listed in critical condition.

Police told News 2 that there was dog in Fisher's car at the time of the crash.  It was not injured and was taken into custody until someone could retrieve it.
