2 deadly overnight shootings may be connected, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Police believe two separate overnight shootings that claimed the life of a man and woman may be connected.

Gregory Johnson, 26, was shot near Joseph Avenue and Grace Street in east Nashville around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The gunshot victim continued to drive down Joseph Avenue before he crash through a fence at the Salvation Army located at 631 Dickerson Pike.

Johnson was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police responded to a second deadly shooting involving a 19-year-old woman just after 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Daresha Cole was shot inside her PT Cruiser in the 3300 block of Chesapeake Circle in Madison.

Detectives have since learned Johnson and Cole were friends.
