Bellevue woman stays positive despite news cancer is growing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Bellevue woman diagnosed with multiple types of cancer last year recently learned the disease is growing at an aggressive rate, yet she's staying positive.

Jerrilyn Hall just celebrated her 50th birthday after a hard year fighting stage four breast cancer, ovarian cancer and cancer of the lymph nodes.

Despite the struggle, Hall has found a way to remain positive.

"I know I'm dying right now, but I've accepted that," she told News 2.

After recently finishing chemotherapy, Hall went back to the doctor to see how successful the treatment was.

Doctors discovered the cancer is not only still there, but is growing at an aggressive rate.

"It's actually in my lymph nodes in my arm, then it's in my lymph nodes in my neck, also my pectoral muscle," Hall said. "I can feel it in my heart. It's pressing on my heart."

She said she's still not going to quit fighting.

"If it does take me and I die, I'm going to die happy," she explained.

Hall said she's been staying positive, only getting "grumpy" occasionally that she can't work.  All of the doctor visits and medications have added up, but that isn't all she has needed.

"I didn't have the money to buy scarves to cover up my bald head, even though I had wigs given to me. The wigs hurt my head," she said.

Clothing is another need after gaining weight from chemotherapy.

But the community has pulled together to help, hosting a Poke Run last year and recently setting up a fundraising campaign online.

"Thank you just doesn't say it," Hall said, adding, "I know those bills are going to be paid."

While the financial help allows her to sleep more sound at night, Hall still thinks about where she will lay her head for good.

She said she has a dying wish to start a make a wish foundation for adults.  Her wish would be to visit Disney World.
