Unusual ending gives Belmont coach 800th career win

The Belmont Bruins 9-8 win over Miami (OH) in the bottom of the ninth inning gave head coach Dave Jarvis his 800th career win.

With the game tied 8-8 in the final inning, the Bruins drew three consecutive walks to load the bases.

Miami pitcher Jacob Banks came in and was able to strike out the next two batters to keep the game tied. Down to the final out, Banks was called for a balk, allowing Zach Hald to score the winning run for Belmont.

The Bruins had the 8-4 lead through six innings but gave up 4 unanswered runs to the Redhawks.

Greg Brody earned his first win of the season. The win brings the Bruins' record to 4-1. Belmont faces Indiana State Saturday at Noon.
